English Translation
Musa ibn Dawud narrated to us, Ibn Lahi'ah narrated to us, from Abu al-Zubayr, from Jabir (رضي الله عنه) — that the Prophet ﷺ, near his death, called for a document to write in it something by which they would never go astray after him. But Umar ibn al-Khattab (رضي الله عنه) differed [on the matter] and said: 'the Messenger of Allah ﷺ is overcome by pain, and we have the Book of Allah, which is sufficient for us.' So there was disagreement among those present, and the noise increased. the Prophet ﷺ said: 'Leave me, for it is not appropriate that you argue in my presence.'
