حَدَّثَنَا سُرَيْجُ بْنُ النُّعْمَانِ حَدَّثَنَا سَعِيدٌ يَعْنِي ابْنَ زَيْدٍ عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ دِينَارٍ حَدَّثَنِي جَابِرُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ قَالَ كَسَعَ رَجُلٌ مِنْ الْمُهَاجِر
ِينَ رَجُلًا مِنْ الْأَنْصَارِ فَقَالَ الْأَنْصَارِيُّ يَا لَلْأَنْصَارِ وَقَالَ الْمُهَاجِرِيُّ يَا لَلْمُهَاجِرِينَ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَلَا مَا بَالُ دَعْوَى الْجَاهِلِيَّةِ دَعُوا الْكَسْعَةَ فَإِنَّهَا مُنْتِنَةٌ

English Translation
Surayj ibn al-Nu'man narrated to us, Sa'id — meaning Ibn Zayd — narrated to us, from 'Amr ibn Dinar, Jabir ibn Abdullah (رضي الله عنهما) narrated to me, saying: A man from the Muhajirun struck a man from the Ansar on the back. The Ansari called out: 'O Ansar!' And the Muhajir called out: 'O Muhajirun!' the Prophet ﷺ heard that and said: 'What is this call of the people of Jahiliyyah?' They said: 'O Messenger of Allah, a man from the Muhajirun struck a man from the Ansar on the back.' the Prophet ﷺ said: 'Leave it, for it is foul.' Then 'Abdullah ibn Ubayy ibn Salul said: 'They have actually done this! By Allah, when we return to Madinah, the mighty will surely expel the lowly from it.' 'Umar (رضي الله عنه) said: 'Let me strike the neck of this hypocrite, O Messenger of Allah!' the Prophet ﷺ said: 'Leave him, lest people say that Muhammad kills his companions.'
