حَدَّثَنَا عَفَّانُ حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ قَالَ أَخْبَرَنِي خُبَيْبُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ الْأَنْصَارِيُّ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ عَبْدَ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنَ مَسْعُودِ بْنِ نِيَارٍ ق
َالَ جَاءَ سَهْلُ بْنُ أَبِي حَثْمَةَ إِلَى مَجْلِسِنَا فَحَدَّثَ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ إِذَا خَرَصْتُمْ فَجُدُّوا وَدَعُوا دَعُوا الثُّلُثَ فَإِنْ لَمْ تَجُدُّوا وَتَدَعُوا فَدَعُوا الرُّبُعَ

English Translation
ʿAffān narrated to us: Shuʿbah narrated to us, saying: Khubayb ibn ʿAbd al-Raḥmān al-Anṣārī informed me, saying: I heard ʿAbd al-Raḥmān ibn Masʿūd ibn Niyār say: Sahl ibn Abī Ḥathmah (رضي الله عنه) came to our gathering and narrated that the Messenger of Allāh ﷺ said: 'When you estimate [the date harvest], take it and leave one third. If you do not leave one third, then leave one quarter.'
