English Translation
ʿAbd al-Raḥmān narrated to us: Sufyān narrated to us, from Ḥumayd al-Aʿraj, from Muḥammad ibn Ibrāhīm, from Abū Salamah, from ʿAbdullāh ibn Rawāḥah (رضي الله عنه) that he returned from a journey at night and hastened to his wife. He found a lamp in his house and [saw] a man with his wife. He took his sword and his wife said: 'This is Khālid ibn ʿUrfuṭah who is reciting the Quran for me.' He went to the Prophet ﷺ and told him. He ﷺ said: 'Had you struck them, there would be no blame upon you.' — or he said — 'you would be free of sin.'
