Abū al-Yamān narrated to us, he said: Shuʿayb informed us, from al-Zuhrī, who said: Abū Bakr ibn ʿAbd al-Raḥmān ibn al-Ḥārith ibn Hishām narrated to me that Marwān ibn al-Ḥakam informed him that ʿAbd al-Raḥmān ibn al-Aswad ibn ʿAbd Yaghūth informed him, saying: Kaʿb ibn Mālik narrated to me that he was going to collect a debt owed to him by ʿAbdullāh ibn Abī Ḥadrad al-Aslamī in the mosque, and their voices became loud until the Messenger of Allāh ﷺ heard them while he was in his house. He came out to them and pulled aside the curtain of his room. He called: 'O Kaʿb!' He said: 'At your service, O Messenger of Allāh.' He gestured with his hand, indicating to reduce half of what was owed. Kaʿb said: 'I have done so, O Messenger of Allāh.' The Messenger of Allāh ﷺ then said to Ibn Abī Ḥadrad: 'Stand up and settle it.'
