حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ أَبِي عَدِيٍّ عَنْ دَاوُدَ بْنِ أَبِي هِنْدٍ عَنِ الشَّعْبِيِّ عَنْ عَلْقَمَةَ عَنْ سَلَمَةَ بْنِ يَزِيدَ الْجُعْفِيِّ قَالَ انْطَلَقْتُ أَنَا وَأَخِي إِلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ قُلْنَا يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ إِنَّ أُمَّنَا مُلَيْكَةَ كَانَتْ تَصِلُ الرَّحِمَ وَتَقْرِ
ي الضَّيْفَ وَتَفْعَلُ وَتَفْعَلُ هَلَكَتْ فِي الْجَاهِلِيَّةِ فَهَلْ ذَلِكَ نَافِعُهَا شَيْئًا قَالَ لَا قَالَ قُلْنَا فَإِنَّهَا كَانَتْ وَأَدَتْ أُخْتًا لَنَا فِي الْجَاهِلِيَّةِ فَهَلْ ذَلِكَ نَافِعُهَا شَيْئًا قَالَ الْوَائِدَةُ وَالْمَوْءُودَةُ فِي النَّارِ إِلَّا أَنْ تُدْرِكَ الْوَائِدَةُ الْإِسْلَامَ فَيَعْفُوَ اللَّهُ عَنْهَا

English Translation
Ibn Abī ʿAdī narrated to us, from Dāwūd ibn Abī Hind, from al-Shaʿbī, from ʿAlqamah, from Salamah ibn Yazīd al-Juʿfī, who said: My brother and I went to the Messenger of Allāh ﷺ. We said: 'O Messenger of Allāh, our mother Mulaikah used to maintain ties of kinship, honor guests, and do such-and-such. She died during the Jāhiliyyah (pre-Islamic period). Did that benefit her at all?' He said: 'No.' We said: 'She had buried alive a sister of ours in the Jāhiliyyah who had not reached the age of understanding.' He said: 'The one who buried alive and the one who was buried alive are both in the Fire — unless the one who buried alive was in Islam.'
