English Translation

Rawḥ ibn ʿUbādah narrated to us, he said: Shuʿbah narrated to us, from Yazīd al-Rishk — Shuʿbah said: I read it to him — he said: I heard Muʿādhah al-ʿAdawiyyah say: I heard Hishām ibn ʿĀmir say: I heard the Messenger of Allāh ﷺ say: "It is not permissible for a Muslim to boycott a Muslim for more than three nights. If they cut off relations for more than three days, they are both deviating from the truth as long as they maintain their estrangement. The first of them to return is expiated by his returning. If he greets him with salām and the other does not respond, the angels return his salām, and the Shayṭān returns the salām upon the other. If they die in their state of estrangement, they will never be gathered together in Paradise."
