English Translation
Yaʿqūb narrated to us, he said: My father narrated to us, from Ibn Isḥāq, who said: Muḥammad ibn Muslim ibn ʿUbaydillāh ibn Shihāb mentioned, from Muḥammad ibn Jubayr ibn Muṭʿim, from his father Jubayr, who said: I heard the Messenger of Allāh ﷺ while he was addressing the people at al-Khayf: 'May Allāh brighten the face of a servant who heard my words, memorized them, and then conveyed them to one who did not hear them. For perhaps a carrier of knowledge does not himself understand it, and perhaps a carrier of knowledge conveys it to one who understands it better than he does. Three things over which the heart of a believer will never harbor malice: sincerity of action, obedience to those in authority, and adhering to the community of Muslims, for their supplication encompasses them all.' And from Ibn Isḥāq, who said: ʿAmr ibn Abī ʿAmr, the freed slave of al-Muṭṭalib, narrated to me, from ʿAbd al-Raḥmān ibn al-Ḥuwayrith, from Muḥammad ibn Jubayr ibn Muṭʿim, from his father — the like of the ḥadīth of Ibn Shihāb, without addition or omission.
