English Translation
ʿAbd al-Razzāq narrated to us, Maʿmar narrated to us, from al-Zuhrī, from ʿUmar ibn Muḥammad ibn Jubayr ibn Muṭʿim, from Muḥammad ibn Jubayr ibn Muṭʿim, that his father told him that while he was traveling with the Messenger of Allāh ﷺ and people were with him, returning from Ḥunayn, the Bedouins clung to him asking him until they pressed him against a thorny tree, which snatched his cloak while he was on his mount. He stopped and said: 'Give me back my cloak. Do you fear miserliness from me? If the number of these thorny trees were livestock, I would distribute them among you. Then you would not find me miserly, nor a coward, nor a liar' ﷺ. Abū ʿAbd al-Raḥmān said: Maʿmar made an error in the lineage of ʿUmar ibn Muḥammad ibn ʿAmr — he is ʿUmar ibn Muḥammad ibn Jubayr ibn Muṭʿim.
