حَدَّثَنَا حُسَيْنُ بْنُ عَلِيٍّ الْجُعْفِيُّ عَنْ زَائِدَةَ عَنْ عَبْدِ الْمَلِكِ بْنِ عُمَيْرٍ قَالَ اسْتَعْمَلَ عُمَرُ بْنُ الْخَطَّابِ أَبَا عُبَيْدَةَ بْنَ الْجَرَّاحِ عَلَى الشَّامِ وَعَزَلَ خَالِدَ بْنَ الْوَلِيدِ قَالَ فَقَالَ خَالِدُ بْنُ الْوَ
لِيدِ بُعِثَ عَلَيْكُمْ أَمِينُ هَذِهِ الْأُمَّةِ سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ أَمِينُ هَذِهِ الْأُمَّةِ أَبُو عُبَيْدةَ بْنُ الْجَرَّاحِ قَالَ أَبُو عُبَيْدَةَ سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ خَالِدٌ سَيْفٌ مِنْ سُيُوفِ اللَّهِ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ وَنِعْمَ فَتَى الْعَشِيرَةِ

English Translation
Khālid ibn al-Walīd narrated: ʿUmar ibn al-Khaṭṭāb appointed Abū ʿUbaydah ibn al-Jarrāḥ over Syria and dismissed Khālid ibn al-Walīd. Khālid said: 'The trustee of this ummah has been sent over you. I heard the Messenger of Allāh ﷺ say: The trustee of this ummah is Abū ʿUbaydah ibn al-Jarrāḥ.' Abū ʿUbaydah said: 'I heard the Messenger of Allāh ﷺ say: Khālid is a sword from the swords of Allāh عز وجل, and an excellent young man of the clan.'
