حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو الْمُغِيرَةِ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ الْأَوْزَاعِيَّ قَالَ حَدَّثَنِي رَبِيعَةُ بْنُ يَزِيدَ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ وَاثِلَةَ بْنَ
الْأَسْقَعِ يَقُولُ خَرَجَ عَلَيْنَا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَقَالَ أَتَزْعُمُونَ أَنِّي آخِرِكُمْ وَفَاةً أَلَا إِنِّي مِنْ أَوَّلِكُمْ وَفَاةً وَتَتْبَعُونِي أَفْنَادًا يُهْلِكُ بَعْضُكُمْ بَعْضًا

English Translation
Abū al-Mughīrah narrated to us, he said: I heard al-Awzāʿī say: Rabīʿah ibn Yazīd narrated to me, he said: I heard Wāthilah ibn al-Asqaʿ saying: The Messenger of Allāh ﷺ came out to us and said: "Do you suppose that I will be the last of you to die? Indeed, I will be among the first of you to die, and you will follow me in groups, some of you destroying others."
