English Translation
ʿAbd al-Razzāq narrated to us, he said: Maʿmar narrated to us, from ʿAbdullāh ibn Muḥammad ibn ʿAqīl ibn Abī Ṭālib, from Khālid ibn Zayd al-Juhanī, from his father Zayd ibn Khālid: that he asked the Prophet ﷺ — or that a man asked the Prophet ﷺ — about the stray sheep of a shepherd. He said: "It is yours or the wolf's." He said: "O Messenger of Allāh, what about stray camels?" He said: "What concern is it of yours? It has its water vessel and its hooves, and it eats from the tips of trees." He said: "O Messenger of Allāh, what about money (wariq/silver coins) when I find it?" He said: "Know its container, its tie, and its amount, then announce it for a year. If its owner comes, give it to him; otherwise, it is yours" — or: "make use of it" — or something similar.
