Arabic Text
حَدَّثَنَا سُرَيْجُ بْنُ النُّعْمَانِ حَدَّثَنَا بَقِيَّةُ بْنُ الْوَلِيدِ عَنْ أَرْطَاةَ بْنِ الْمُنْذِرِ عَنْ بَعْضِ أَشْيَاخِ الْجُنْدِ عَنِ الْمِقْدَامِ بْنِ مَعْد
ِي كَرِبَ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَنْهَى عَنْ لَطْمِ خُدُودِ الدَّوَابِّ وَقَالَ إِنَّ اللَّهَ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ قَدْ جَعَلَ لَكُمْ عِصِيًّا وَسِيَاطًا

English Translation
Surayj ibn al-Nuʿmān narrated to us, Baqiyyah ibn al-Walīd narrated to us, from Arṭāh ibn al-Mundhir, from some of the elders of the military district, from al-Miqdām ibn Maʿdī Karib رضي الله عنه, who said: I heard the Messenger of Allāh ﷺ prohibit slapping the faces of animals. And he said: "Indeed, Allāh عز وجل has provided you with sticks and whips."
