حَدَّثَنَا حَسَنُ بْنُ مُوسَى وَمُوسَى بْنُ دَاوُدَ قَالَا حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ لَهِيعَةَ حَدَّثَنَا كَعْبُ بْنُ عَلْقَمَةَ عَنْ مَوْلًى لِعُقْبَةَ بْنِ عَامِرٍ يُقَالُ لَهُ كَثِيرٌ قَالَ لَقِيتُ عُقْبَةَ بْنَ عَ
امِرٍ فَأَخْبَرْتُهُ أَنَّ لَنَا جِيرَانًا يَشْرَبُونَ الْخَمْرَ قَالَ دَعْهُمْ ثُمَّ جَاءَهُ فَقَالَ أَلَا أَدْعُو عَلَيْهِمْ الشُّرَطُ فَقَالَ عُقْبَةُ وَيْحَكَ دَعْهُمْ فَإِنِّي سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ مِنْ رَأَى عَوْرَةً فَسَتَرَهَا كَانَ كَمَنْ أَحْيَا مَوْءُودَةً مِنْ قَبْرِهَا

English Translation
Kathīr, the freed slave of ʿUqbah ibn ʿĀmir al-Juhanī, narrated: I met ʿUqbah ibn ʿĀmir and told him that we had neighbors who drank wine. He said: "Leave them." Then he came to him again and said: "Shall I not call the police on them?" ʿUqbah said: "Woe to you, leave them, for I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say: 'Whoever sees a fault and conceals it is like one who brought to life a girl buried alive from her grave.'"
