حَدَّثَنَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ وَيَزِيدُ بْنُ هَارُونَ أَخْبَرَنَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ عَنْ قَيْسٍ عَنْ أَبِي مَسْعُودٍ قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَل

َّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ إِنَّ الشَّمْسَ وَالْقَمَرَ لَا يَنْكَسِفَانِ لِمَوْتِ أَحَدٍ قَالَ يَزِيدُ وَلَا لِحَيَاتِهِ وَلَكِنَّهُمَا آيَتَانِ مِنْ آيَاتِ اللَّهِ تَعَالَى فَإِذَا رَأَيْتُمُوهُمَا فَصَلُّوا

English Translation

Ismāʿīl — and Yazīd ibn Hārūn said: Ismāʿīl informed us — from Qays, from Abū Masʿūd رضي الله عنه, who said: The Messenger of Allāh ﷺ said: "The sun and the moon do not eclipse because of anyone's death" — Yazīd added: "nor because of anyone's life — but they are two signs among the signs of Allāh تعالى. So when you see them, pray."
