ʿUbaydah ibn Ḥumayd narrated to us, ʿAṭāʾ ibn al-Sāʾib narrated to me, from a man called ʿAbdullāh ibn Ḥafṣ, from Yaʿlā ibn Murrah, who said: "the Messenger of Allah ﷺ saw me wearing khalūq perfume and said to me: 'O Yaʿlā, what is this khalūq? Do you have a wife?' I said: 'No.' He said: 'Go and wash it off, then wash it, then wash it, and do not do it again.'"
