English Translation

Ismāʿīl narrated to us, from Khālid al-Ḥadhdhāʾ, from Abū Qilābah, from Abū al-Ashʿath, from Shaddād ibn Aws رضي الله عنه, who said: "There are two things I memorized from the Messenger of Allāh ﷺ: Indeed, Allāh عز وجل has prescribed excellence (iḥsān) in all things. So when you kill, kill well; and when you slaughter, slaughter well. Let each of you sharpen his blade and give comfort to his animal being slaughtered."
