Hadith #597

English Translation

Muḥammad ibn Jaʿfar narrated to us, Shuʿbah narrated to us, from Yazīd ibn Khumayr, from ʿAbdullāh ibn Busr who said: the Messenger of Allah ﷺ stayed with my father. We brought him food and a waṭbah, and he ate from it. Then he was brought dates, and he would eat them and throw the pits with his two fingers, gathering the index and middle fingers — Shuʿbah said: this is my assumption, and it is in [the narration], God willing. Then he was brought a drink and drank, then passed it to the one on his right. My father said, taking hold of the bridle of his mount, 'Supplicate to Allah for us.' He said, 'O Allah, bless them in what You have provided them, and forgive them, and have mercy on them.' Rawḥ narrated to us, Shuʿbah narrated to us, from Yazīd ibn Khumayr who said: I heard ʿAbdullāh ibn Busr narrating from his father that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ visited them — and he mentioned the same meaning as the hadith of Ibn Jaʿfar.
