English Translation

ʿAbd al-Raḥmān ibn Mahdī narrated to us, from Muʿāwiyah — meaning Ibn Ṣāliḥ — from ʿAmr ibn Qays who said: I heard ʿAbdullāh ibn Busr say: Two Bedouins came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. One of them said, 'O Messenger of Allah, which of the people is best?' He said, 'The one whose life is long and whose deeds are good.' The other said, 'O Messenger of Allah, the laws of Islam have become too many for me, so command me with something I can hold firm to.' He said, 'Let your tongue never cease being moist with the remembrance of Allah عز وجل.'
