Chain of Narration (Isnad)

حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ سَعِيدٍ عَنْ هِشَامٍ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَى أَبِي أَنَّ عُبَيْدَ اللَّهِ بْنَ عَدِيٍّ حَدَّثَهُ أَنَّ رَجُلَيْنِ أَخْبَرَاهُ أَنَّهُمَا أَتَيَا النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَسْأَلَانِهِ مِنْ الصَّدَقَةِ فَقَلَّبَ فِيهِمَا الْبَصَرَ وَرَآهُمَا جَلْدَيْنِ فَقَالَ إِنْ شِئْتُمَا أَعْطَيْتُكُمَا وَ

لَا حَظَّ فِيهَا لِغَنِيٍّ وَلَا لِقَوِيٍّ مُكْتَسِبٍ حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ حَدَّثَنَا هِشَامٌ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنْ عُبَيْدِ اللَّهِ قَالَ حَدَّثَنِي رَجُلَانِ أَنَّهُمَا أَتَيَا النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فِي حَجَّةِ الْوَدَاعِ قَالَ فَصَعَّدَ فِيهِمَا فَذَكَرَ الْحَدِيثَ

English Translation

ʿUbaydullāh ibn ʿAdī narrated that two men told him they came to the Prophet ﷺ asking him for charity. He looked them over and saw that they were strong and able-bodied. He said: "If you wish, I will give you. But there is no share in it for a wealthy person or a strong able-bodied earner."
