Muḥammad ibn Jaʿfar narrated to us, Shuʿbah narrated to us, from Manṣūr, from Sālim ibn Abī al-Jaʿd, from Murrah ibn Kaʿb — or Kaʿb ibn Murrah al-Sulamī. Shuʿbah said: Manṣūr narrated it to me and mentioned three intermediaries between him and Murrah ibn Kaʿb. Then he said later, from Manṣūr, from Sālim, from Murrah — or Kaʿb — who said: I asked the Messenger of Allāh ﷺ: 'Which part of the night is most heard?' He said: 'The last part of the night.' Then he said: 'Prayer is accepted until you pray the Ṣubḥ prayer, then there is no prayer until the sun rises and is the height of a spear or two. Then prayer is accepted until the shadow stands upright like a spear, then there is no prayer until the sun passes its zenith. Then prayer is accepted until you pray the ʿAṣr prayer, then there is no prayer until the sun sets. And when a servant performs wuḍūʾ and washes his hands, his sins fall from his hands. When he washes his face, his sins fall from his face. When he washes his forearms, his sins fall from his forearms. When he washes his feet, his sins fall from his feet.' Shuʿbah said: He did not mention wiping the head. 'And whichever man frees a Muslim man, it will be his ransom from the Fire — each limb of the freed man for each limb of his own. And whichever Muslim man frees two Muslim women, they will be his ransom from the Fire — every two limbs of theirs for one limb of his. And whichever Muslim woman frees a Muslim woman, she will be her ransom from the Fire — each limb of the freed woman for each limb of her own.'
