English Translation
Yazīd narrated to us, Ismāʿīl narrated to us, from al-Shaʿbī, from al-Mughīrah ibn Shuʿbah رضي الله عنه who said: Two women who were wives of a man from Hudhayl — one struck the other with a tent pole and killed her, and the slain woman was pregnant. the Prophet ﷺ judged that the blood money be borne by the killer's male relatives, and for what was in her womb, a ghurrah. A Bedouin said: 'You make me pay for one who neither ate, nor drank, nor cried out, nor raised his voice — such a one's blood is to be shed in vain!' the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: 'Rhymed prose like the rhymed prose of the Bedouins! For what was in her womb: a ghurrah.'
