حَدَّثَنَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ حَدَّثَنَا خَالِدٌ الْحَذَّاءُ حَدَّثَنِي ابْنُ أَشْوَعَ عَنِ الشَّعْبِيِّ قَالَ حَدَّثَنِي كَاتِبُ الْمُغِيرَةِ بْنِ شُعْبَةَ قَالَ كَتَبَ مُعَاوِيَةُ إِلَى الْمُغِيرَةِ بْنِ شُعْبَةَ أَنْ اكْتُبْ إِلَيَّ بِشَيْءٍ سَمِعْتَهُ مِ
نْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَكَتَبَ إِلَيْهِ إِنِّي سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ إِنَّ اللَّهَ كَرِهَ لَكُمْ قِيلَ وَقَالَ وَإِضَاعَةَ الْمَالِ وَكَثْرَةَ السُّؤَالِ

English Translation
Ismāʿīl narrated to us, Khālid al-Ḥadhdhāʾ narrated to us, Ibn Ashwaʿ narrated to me, from al-Shaʿbī who said: The scribe of al-Mughīrah ibn Shuʿbah narrated to me. He said: Muʿāwiyah wrote to al-Mughīrah ibn Shuʿbah: 'Write to me something you heard from the Messenger of Allah ﷺ.' So he wrote to him: I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say: 'Allah dislikes gossip for you, wasting wealth, and excessive questioning.'
