حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ وَأَبُو مُعَاوِيَةَ الْمَعْنَى قَالَا حَدَّثَنَا الْأَعْمَشُ عَن
ْ خَيْثَمَةَ عَنْ عَدِيِّ بْنِ حَاتِمٍ الطَّائِيِّ قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ مَا مِنْكُمْ مِنْ أَحَدٍ إِلَّا سَيُكَلِّمُهُ رَبُّهُ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ لَيْسَ بَيْنَهُ وَبَيْنَهُ تُرْجُمَانٌ فَيَنْظُرُ عَمَّنْ أَيْمَنَ مِنْهُ فَلَا يَرَى إِلَّا شَيْئًا قَدَّمَهُ وَيَنْظُرُ عَمَّنْ أَشْأَمَ مِنْهُ فَلَا يَرَى إِلَّا شَيْئًا قَدَّمَهُ وَيَنْظُرُ أَمَامَهُ فَتَسْتَقْبِلُهُ النَّارُ فَمَنْ اسْتَطَاعَ مِنْكُمْ أَنْ يَتَّقِيَ النَّارَ وَلَوْ بِشِقِّ تَمْرَةٍ فَلْيَفْعَلْ

English Translation
Wakīʿ and Abū Muʿāwiyah narrated to us — with the same meaning — they said: al-Aʿmash narrated to us, from Khaythamah, from ʿAdī ibn Ḥātim al-Ṭāʾī who said: the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: 'There is none among you except that his Lord عز وجل will speak to him, with no interpreter between them. He will look to his right and see nothing but what he sent forth. He will look to his left and see nothing but what he sent forth. He will look in front of him and the Fire will confront him. So whoever among you is able to protect himself from the Fire, even with half a date, let him do so.'
