Yaʿqūb narrated to us, my father narrated to us, from Muḥammad ibn Isḥāq, Muḥammad ibn Ibrāhīm ibn al-Ḥārith al-Taymī narrated to me, from ʿUmar ibn al-Ḥakam ibn Thawbān, from Ibn Lās al-Khuzāʿī, who said: ʿAmmār ibn Yāsir رضي الله عنه entered the mosque and prayed two of the lightest and quickest rakʿahs. Then he sat down. We went to him and sat beside him, then said: 'You made those two rakʿahs very brief, O Abū al-Yaqẓān.' He said: 'I raced Shayṭān before he could interfere in them.' And he mentioned the hadith. Aswad ibn ʿĀmir narrated to us, Sharīk narrated to us, from Abū Hāshim, from Abū Mijlaz, who said: ʿAmmār prayed a prayer and was brief in it. He was asked — or it was said to him — and he said: 'I did not diminish anything from the prayer of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ.'
