English Translation
Wakīʿ narrated to us, from Zakariyyā, from Abū Isḥāq al-Shaybānī, from Jurayy ibn Kulayb, from al-Barāʾ ibn ʿĀzib, who said: the Messenger of Allah ﷺ was asked: What should be avoided among sacrificial animals? He gestured with his hand and said: "Four" — al-Barāʾ used to gesture with his hand, saying: My hand is shorter than the hand of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ — "the lame whose lameness is obvious, the one-eyed whose defect is obvious, the sick whose sickness is obvious, and the emaciated that has no marrow." He was asked: What about a defect in the ear? He said: "There is no harm in that." And he was asked about one with a broken horn. He said: "There is no harm in that."
