English Translation

Muḥammad ibn Jaʿfar and ʿAffān narrated to us, saying: Shuʿbah narrated to us — ʿAffān said: Abū Isḥāq informed us — from al-Barāʾ. Abū Isḥāq did not hear it directly from al-Barāʾ. He said: the Messenger of Allah ﷺ passed by a group of people sitting in the road. He said: "If you must do this, then guide travelers, return the greeting of peace, and help the oppressed." ʿAffān said: "and assist." My father said: Abū Saʿīd narrated it to us: Shuʿbah narrated to us, saying: I heard Abū Isḥāq say: "assist the oppressed." My father said: Aswad also narrated it to us: Isrāʾīl narrated to us: Abū Isḥāq from al-Barāʾ, and he said: "assist the oppressed." Ḥasan also said: "assist" — from Isrāʾīl.
