Muḥammad ibn Jaʿfar narrated to us: Shuʿbah narrated to us, from Abū Isḥāq, who said: I heard al-Barāʾ say: the Messenger of Allah ﷺ was carrying dirt with us on the Day of al-Aḥzāb (the Confederates), and the dirt had covered the whiteness of his stomach. He was saying: "O Allah, were it not for You, we would not have been guided, nor given charity, nor prayed. So send down tranquility upon us. Indeed the foremost — and sometimes he said: Indeed the nobility — have transgressed against us. When they intend tribulation, we refuse." And he would raise his voice with it. Muʿāwiyah narrated to us: Abū Isḥāq and from Sufyān from Abū Isḥāq from al-Barāʾ ibn ʿĀzib, who said: I saw the Messenger of Allah ﷺ on the Day of the Trench carrying dirt — and he mentioned something similar. ʿAffān narrated to us: Shuʿbah narrated to us: Abū Isḥāq narrated to us from al-Barāʾ, who said: I saw the Messenger of Allah ﷺ on the Day of the Trench carrying dirt — and he mentioned something similar.
