حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ الْمُقْرِئُ وَحُسَيْنُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ الْمَعْنَى قَالَا حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو رَجَاءٍ عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ وَاقِدٍ الْهَرَوِيُّ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ مَالِكٍ عَن الْبَرَاءِ بْنِ عَازِبٍ قَالَ بَيْنَمَا نَحْنُ مَعَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ إِذْ بَصُرَ بِجَمَاعَةٍ فَقَالَ عَلَامَ اجْتَمَعَ عَلَيْهِ هَؤُلَاءِ قِيلَ عَلَى قَبْرٍ يَحْفِرُونَهُ قَالَ فَفَ
زِعَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَبَدَرَ بَيْنَ يَدَيْ أَصْحَابِهِ مُسْرِعًا حَتَّى انْتَهَى إِلَى الْقَبْرِ فَجَثَا عَلَيْهِ قَالَ فَاسْتَقْبَلْتُهُ مِنْ بَيْنِ يَدَيْهِ لِأَنْظُرَ مَا يَصْنَعُ فَبَكَى حَتَّى بَلَّ الثَّرَى مِنْ دُمُوعِهِ ثُمَّ أَقْبَلَ عَلَيْنَا قَالَ أَيْ إِخْوَانِي لِمِثْلِ الْيَوْمِ فَأَعِدُّوا

English Translation
Abū ʿAbd al-Raḥmān al-Muqriʾ and Ḥusayn ibn Muḥammad — the meaning is the same — narrated to us, saying: Abū Rajāʾ ʿAbdullāh ibn Wāqid al-Harawī narrated to us: Muḥammad ibn Mālik narrated to us, from al-Barāʾ ibn ʿĀzib, who said: While we were with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, he noticed a group of people and said: "What have these gathered over?" It was said: "A grave they are digging." the Messenger of Allah ﷺ was alarmed and hurried ahead of his Companions until he reached the grave. He knelt by it. I positioned myself in front of him to watch what he would do. He wept until the earth was wet from his tears. Then he turned to us and said: "O my brothers, for a day like this, prepare."
