Arabic Text
حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الصَّمَدِ حَدَّثَنَا عِمْرَانُ يَعْنِي الْقَطَّانَ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ الْحَسَنَ يُحَدِّثُ عَنْ جُنْدُبٍ أَنَّ رَجُلًا أَصَابَتْهُ جِرَاحَةٌ فَحُمِلَ إِلَى بَيْتِهِ فَآلَمَتْ جِرَاحَت
ُهُ فَاسْتَخْرَجَ سَهْمًا مِنْ كِنَانَتِهِ فَطَعَنَ بِهِ فِي لَبَّتِهِ فَذَكَرُوا ذَلِكَ عِنْدَ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَقَالَ فِيمَا يَرْوِي عَنْ رَبِّهِ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ سَابَقَنِي بِنَفْسِهِ

English Translation
ʿAbd al-Ṣamad narrated from ʿImrān al-Qaṭṭān, who said: I heard al-Ḥasan narrating from Jundub, that a man was struck with a wound and was carried to his house. His wound pained him, so he drew an arrow from his quiver and stabbed himself in the throat. They mentioned that to the Prophet ﷺ, and he said — in what he related from his Lord عز وجل: 'He rushed [to take] his own life before Me.'
