Arabic Text
حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ قَالَ ثَنَا شُعْبَةُ عَنِ الْحَكَمِ عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ أَبِي لَيْلَى عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ رَبِيعَةَ السُّلَمِيِّ قَالَ كَانَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فِي سَفَرٍ فَسَمِعَ مُؤَذِّنًا يَقُولُ أَشْهَدُ أَنْ لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا اللَّهُ فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَشْهَدُ أَنْ لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا اللَّهُ قَالَ أَشْهَدُ أَنَّ مُحَمَّدً
ا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ قَالَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَشْهَدُ أَنِّي مُحَمَّدٌ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ تَجِدُونَهُ رَاعِيَ غَنَمٍ أَوْ عَازِبًا عَنْ أَهْلِهِ فَلَمَّا هَبَطَ الْوَادِي قَالَ مَرَّ عَلَى سَخْلَةٍ مَنْبُوذَةٍ فَقَالَ أَتَرَوْنَ هَذِهِ هَيِّنَةً عَلَى أَهْلِهَا لَلدُّنْيَا أَهْوَنُ عَلَى اللَّهِ مِنْ هَذِهِ عَلَى أَهْلِهَا

English Translation
Wakīʿ narrated to us, he said: Shuʿbah narrated to us, from al-Ḥakam, from ʿAbd al-Raḥmān ibn Abī Laylā, from ʿAbd Allāh ibn Rabīʿah al-Sulamī, who said: the Prophet ﷺ was on a journey and heard a muezzin saying: "I bear witness that there is no god but Allah." the Prophet ﷺ said: "I bear witness that there is no god but Allah." He said: "I bear witness that Muḥammad is the Messenger of Allah ﷺ." the Prophet ﷺ said: "I bear witness that I am Muḥammad, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ." Then the Prophet ﷺ said: "You will find him to be a shepherd or one who lives apart from his family." When they descended into the valley, they passed by a discarded dead lamb. He said: "Do you think this is insignificant to its owner? The world is more insignificant to Allah than this is to its owner."
