English Translation
Muḥammad ibn Jaʿfar narrated to us, Shuʿbah narrated to us, from Abū Bishr, from ʿAbd Allāh ibn Shaqīq, from Rajāʾ ibn Abī Rajāʾ, who said: Buraydah was at the door of the mosque. Miḥjan passed by him while Sukbah was praying. Buraydah — who was inclined to jest with Miḥjan — said: "Why do you not pray as this one prays?" Miḥjan said: "the Messenger of Allah ﷺ took my hand and climbed Mount Uḥud. He overlooked Madinah and said: 'Woe to its mother — a town whose people will abandon it when it is at its best, or nearly at its best. Then the Dajjāl will come and find at every gate of its gates an angel with a drawn sword, so he will not enter it.' Then he descended, still holding my hand, and entered the mosque. There was a man praying. He said to me: 'Who is this?' I went over to him and praised him highly. He said: 'Be silent — do not let him hear, lest you ruin him.' Then he went to the chamber of one of his wives and released my hand. He said: 'The best of your religion is its easiest. The best of your religion is its easiest.'" Ḥajjāj narrated to us, Shuʿbah narrated to us, from Abū Bishr, who said: I heard ʿAbd Allāh ibn Shaqīq narrating from Rajāʾ ibn Abī Rajāʾ al-Bāhilī, from Miḥjan — a man from Aslam — and he mentioned its meaning, except Ḥajjāj and Abū al-Naḍr did not say: "with his wing (sword)."
