حَدَّثَنَا يَزِيدُ أَخْبَرَنَا سُفْيَانُ عَنْ مَنْصُورٍ عَنْ إِبْرَاهِيمَ عَنْ عَلْقَمَةَ قَالَ أُتِيَ عَبْدُ اللَّهِ فِي امْرَأَةٍ تَزَوَّجَهَا رَجُل
ٌ فَتُوُفِّيَ وَلَمْ يَفْرِضْ لَهَا صَدَاقًا وَلَمْ يَكُنْ دَخَلَ بِهَا قَالَ فَاخْتَلَفُوا إِلَيْهِ فَقَالَ أَرَى لَهَا مِثْلُ صَدَاقِ نِسَائِهَا وَلَهَا الْمِيرَاثُ وَعَلَيْهَا الْعِدَّةُ فَشَهِدَ مَعْقِلُ بْنُ سِنَانٍ الْأَشْجَعِيُّ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَضَى فِي بِرْوَعَ بِنْتِ وَاشِقٍ بِمِثْلِ هَذَا

English Translation
Yazīd narrated to us: Sufyān informed us, from Manṣūr, from Ibrāhīm, from ʿAlqamah who said: ʿAbdullāh was approached regarding a woman whose husband married her and then died without having set a dowry and without having consummated the marriage. They kept coming to him, and he said: 'I see that she receives the equivalent dowry of her peers, she inherits, and she must observe the waiting period.' Maʿqil ibn Sinān al-Ashjaʿī testified that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ judged the same regarding Birwaʿ bint Wāshiq.
