حَدَّثَنَا عَفَّانُ حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادُ بْنُ سَلَمَةَ عَنِ الْحَجَّاجِ عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ مُرَّةَ عَنْ زَاذَانَ عَنْ جَرِيرِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ الْبَجَلِيِّ أَنَّ رَجُلًا جَاءَ فَدَخَلَ فِي الْإِسْلَامِ فَكَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يُع
َلِّمُهُ الْإِسْلَامَ وَهُوَ فِي مَسِيرِهِ فَدَخَلَ خُفُّ بَعِيرِهِ فِي جُحْرِ يَرْبُوعٍ فَوَقَصَهُ بَعِيرُهُ فَمَاتَ فَأَتَى عَلَيْهِ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَقَالَ عَمِلَ قَلِيلًا وَأُجِرَ كَثِيرًا قَالَهَا حَمَّادٌ ثَلَاثًا اللَّحْدُ لَنَا وَالشَّقُّ لِغَيْرِنَا حَدَّثَنَا عَفَّانُ حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الْوَاحِدِ حَدَّثَنَا حَجَّاجُ بْنُ أَرْطَاةَ حَدَّثَنَا عُثْمَانُ الْبَجَلِيُّ عَنْ زَاذَانَ فَذَكَرَ الْحَدِيثَ

English Translation
Jarīr ibn ʿAbd Allāh al-Bajalī narrated: A man came and entered into Islam, and the Messenger of Allah ﷺ was teaching him Islam while they were traveling. His camel's hoof fell into a jerboa hole, and the camel threw him and he died. the Messenger of Allah ﷺ came upon him and said: 'He worked little and was rewarded greatly' — Ḥammād said it three times — 'The laḥd (lateral niche) is for us, and the shaqq (trench) is for others.' ʿAffān narrated another chain from ʿAbd al-Wāḥid, from Ḥajjāj ibn Arṭāh, from ʿUthmān al-Bajalī, from Zādhān — and he mentioned the ḥadīth.
