English Translation

ʿAbd Allāh ibn Yazīd narrated to us, Saʿīd ibn Abī Ayyūb narrated to us, he said: I heard a man from Quraysh called Abū ʿAbd Allāh, who used to sit with Jaʿfar ibn Rabīʿah, say: I heard Abū Burdah al-Ashʿarī narrating from his father, from the Prophet ﷺ, who said: 'The gravest of sins in the sight of Allah عز وجل with which a servant meets Him, after the major sins He has forbidden, is that a man dies while having a debt that he did not leave behind the means to repay.'
