حَدَّثَنَا مُؤَمَّلُ بْنُ إِسْمَاعِيلَ حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادُ بْنُ سَلَمَةَ حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو عِمْرَانَ الْجَوْنِيُّ عَنْ أَبِي بَكْرِ بْنِ أَبِي مُوسَى عَنْ أَبِيهِ قَالَ أَتَيْتُ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَمَعِي نَفَرٌ مِنْ قَوْمِي فَقَالَ أَبْشِرُوا وَبَشِّرُوا مَنْ وَرَاءَكُمْ إِنَّهُ مَنْ شَهِدَ أَنْ لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا اللَّهُ صَادِقًا بِهَا دَخَلَ الْجَنّ
َةَ فَخَرَجْنَا مِنْ عِنْدِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ نُبَشِّرُ النَّاسَ فَاسْتَقْبَلَنَا عُمَرُ بْنُ الْخَطَّابِ فَرَجَعَ بِنَا إِلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَقَالَ عُمَرُ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ إِذَنْ يَتَّكِلَ النَّاسُ قَالَ فَسَكَتَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ

English Translation
Muʾammal ibn Ismāʿīl narrated to us, Ḥammād ibn Salamah narrated to us, Abū ʿImrān al-Jawnī narrated to us, from Abū Bakr ibn Abī Mūsā, from his father, who said: I came to the Prophet ﷺ with a group of my people, and he said: 'Rejoice and give glad tidings to those behind you: whoever testifies that there is no god but Allah, sincerely from his heart, shall enter Paradise.' So we went out from the Prophet ﷺ giving glad tidings to the people, and ʿUmar ibn al-Khaṭṭāb رضي الله عنه met us and brought us back to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. ʿUmar said: 'O Messenger of Allah, then the people will rely on it!' So the Prophet ﷺ remained silent.
