حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ قَتَادَةَ يُحَدِّثُ عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ عَنْ أُسَيْدِ بْنِ حُضَيْرٍ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ تَعَالَى عَنْهُ قَالَ إِنَّ رَجُلًا
مِنْ الْأَنْصَارِ تَخَلَّى بِرَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَقَالَ أَلَا تَسْتَعْمِلُنِي كَمَا اسْتَعْمَلْتَ فُلَانًا قَالَ إِنَّكُمْ سَتَلْقَوْنَ بَعْدِي أَثَرَةً فَاصْبِرُوا حَتَّى تَلْقَوْنِي عَلَى الْحَوْضِ

English Translation
Muḥammad ibn Jaʿfar narrated to us, Shuʿbah narrated to us who said: I heard Qatādah narrating from Anas ibn Mālik, from Usayd ibn Ḥuḍayr رضي الله تعالى عنه who said: A man from the Anṣār took the Messenger of Allah ﷺ aside and said, 'Will you not appoint me as you appointed so-and-so?' He said, 'You will encounter preferential treatment after me, so be patient until you meet me at the Pool.'
