حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ حَدَّثَنَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ بْنُ أَبِي خَالِدٍ عَنْ حَكِيمِ بْنِ جَابِرٍ عَنْ أَبِيهِ قَالَ دَخَلْتُ عَلَى النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ

عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فِي بَيْتِهِ فَرَأَيْتُ عِنْدَهُ قَرْعًا فَقُلْتُ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ مَا هَذَا قَالَ هَذَا قَرْعٌ نُكَثِّرُ بِهِ طَعَامَنَا

English Translation

Wakīʿ narrated to us, Ismāʿīl ibn Abī Khālid narrated to us, from Ḥakīm ibn Jābir, from his father رضي الله عنه who said: I entered upon the Prophet ﷺ in his house and saw that he had gourd (qarʿ). I said, 'O Messenger of Allah, what is this?' He said, 'This is gourd. We use it to make our food more plentiful.'
