حَدَّثَنَا حَجَّاجٌ حَدَّثَنِي شُعْبَةُ عَنْ أَبِي الْمُخْتَارِ مَنْ بَنِي أَسَدٍ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ عَبْدَ اللَّهِ بْنَ أَبِي أَوْفَى قَالَ كُنَّا فِي سَفَرٍ فَلَمْ نَجِدْ الْمَاءَ قَالَ ثُمَّ هَجَمْنَا
عَلَى الْمَاءِ بَعْدُ قَالَ فَجَعَلُوا يَسْقُونَ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَكُلَّمَا أَتَوْهُ بِالشَّرَابِ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ سَاقِي الْقَوْمِ آخِرُهُمْ ثَلَاثَ مَرَّاتٍ حَتَّى شَرِبُوا كُلُّهُمْ

English Translation
Ḥajjāj narrated to us, Shuʿbah narrated to me, from Abū al-Mukhtār of the Banū Asad who said: I heard ʿAbd Allāh ibn Abī Awfā رضي الله عنه say: We were on a journey and could not find water. Then we came upon water, and they began offering drink to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. Every time they brought him a drink, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, 'The one who serves the drink to the people is the last of them to drink' — three times, until they had all drunk.
