حَدَّثَنَا أَسْوَدُ بْنُ عَامِرٍ شَاذَانُ أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو بَكْرٍ يَعْنِي ابْنَ عَيَّاشٍ عَنْ الْأَعْمَشِ عَنْ سَعِ
يدِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ جُرَيْجٍ عَنْ أَبِي بَرْزَةَ الْأَسْلَمِيِّ قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَا مَعْشَرَ مَنْ آمَنَ بِلِسَانِهِ وَلَمْ يَدْخُلْ الْإِيمَانُ قَلْبَهُ لَا تَغْتَابُوا الْمُسْلِمِينَ وَلَا تَتَّبِعُوا عَوْرَاتِهِمْ فَإِنَّهُ مَنْ يَتَّبِعْ عَوْرَاتِهِمْ يَتَّبِعْ اللَّهُ عَوْرَتَهُ وَمَنْ يَتَّبِعْ اللَّهُ عَوْرَتَهُ يَفْضَحْهُ فِي بَيْتِهِ

English Translation
Aswad ibn ʿĀmir Shādhān narrated to us, Abū Bakr — meaning Ibn ʿAyyāsh — informed us, from al-Aʿmash, from Saʿīd ibn ʿAbd Allāh ibn Jurayj, from Abū Barzah al-Aslamī who said: the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: ‘O assembly of those who have believed with their tongues but faith has not entered their hearts! Do not backbite the Muslims and do not pursue their faults. For whoever pursues their faults, Allah will pursue his faults. And whoever Allah pursues his faults, He will expose him in his own home.’
