English Translation
Ismā‘īl narrated to us: Yūnus informed us. He said: I was told that al-Miswar ibn Makhramah came to al-Hasan and said: I have a slave who ran away, and I vowed that if I caught sight of him, I would cut off his hand. He has now come and is at the bridge. Al-Hasan said: Do not cut off his hand. Then he narrated to him that a man said to ‘Imrān ibn Husayn: I have a slave who ran away, and I vowed that if I caught sight of him, I would cut off his hand. ‘Imrān said: Do not cut off his hand, for the Messenger of Allāh ﷺ used to lead us — or he said: stand among us — commanding charity and forbidding mutilation.
