حَدَّثَنَا عَفَّانُ وَبَهْزٌ قَالَا ثَنَا أَبُو عَوَانَةَ حَدَّثَنَا قَتَادَةُ قَالَ بَهْزٌ عَنْ قَتَادَةَ عَنْ زُرَارَةَ بْنِ أَوْفَى عَنْ عِمْرَانَ بْنِ حُصَيْنٍ قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّ
ى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ خَيْرُ أُمَّتِي الْقَرْنُ الَّذِي بُعِثْتُ فِيهِمْ ثُمَّ الَّذِينَ يَلُونَهُمْ ثُمَّ الَّذِينَ يَلُونَهُمْ قَالَ وَاللَّهُ أَعْلَمُ أَذَكَرَ الثَّالِثَ أَمْ لَا ثُمَّ يَنْشَأُ قَوْمٌ يَشْهَدُونَ وَلَا يُسْتَشْهَدُونَ وَيَنْذُرُونَ وَلَا يُوفُونَ وَيَخُونُونَ وَلَا يُؤْتَمَنُونَ وَيَفْشُو فِيهِمْ السِّمَنُ

English Translation
ʿAffān and Bahz said: Abū ʿAwānah narrated to us, Qatādah narrated to us — Bahz said: from Qatādah — from Zurārah ibn Awfā, from ʿImrān ibn Ḥuṣayn, who said: the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: “The best of my ummah is the generation in which I was sent, then those who follow them, then those who follow them” — he said: ‘And Allah knows best whether he mentioned the third or not’ — “then there will arise people who testify but are not asked to testify, who make vows but do not fulfill them, who betray and are not trusted, and obesity will spread among them.”
