حَدَّثَنَا عَفَّانُ حَدَّثَنَا أَبَانُ يَعْنِي الْعَطَّارَ حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ أَبِي كَثِيرٍ عَنْ أَبِي قِلَابَةَ عَنْ أَبِي الْمُهَلَّبِ عَنْ عِمْرَانَ بْنِ حُصَيْنٍ أَنَّ امْرَأَةً مِنْ جُهَيْنَةَ أَتَتْ نَبِيَّ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَقَالَتْ لَهُ إِنِّي أَصَبْتُ حَدًّا فَأَقِمْهُ عَلَيَّ وَهِيَ حَامِلٌ فَأَمَرَ بِهَا أَنْ يُحْسَنَ إِل
َيْهَا حَتَّى تَضَعَ فَلَمَّا وَضَعَتْ جِيءَ بِهَا إِلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَأَمَرَ بِهَا فَشُكَّتْ عَلَيْهَا ثِيَابُهَا ثُمَّ رَجَمَهَا ثُمَّ صَلَّى عَلَيْهَا فَقَالَ عُمَرُ يَا نَبِيَّ اللَّهِ تُصَلِّي عَلَيْهَا وَقَدْ زَنَتْ فَقَالَ لَقَدْ تَابَتْ تَوْبَةً لَوْ قُسِمَتْ بَيْنَ سَبْعِينَ مِنْ أَهْلِ الْمَدِينَةِ لَوَسِعَتْهُمْ وَهَلْ وَجَدْتَ أَفْضَلَ مِنْ أَنْ جَادَتْ بِنَفْسِهَا لِلَّهِ تَبَارَكَ وَتَعَالَى

English Translation
ʿAffān narrated to us, Abān — meaning al-ʿAṭṭār — narrated to us, Yaḥyā ibn Abī Kathīr narrated to us, from Abū Qilābah, from Abū al-Muhallab, from ʿImrān ibn Ḥuṣayn, that a woman from Juhaynah came to the Prophet ﷺ of Allah ﷺ and said: ‘I have committed a ḥadd offense, so carry it out on me.’ She was pregnant. He ordered that she be treated well until she delivered. When she delivered, she was brought to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. He ordered that her garments be fastened tightly upon her, then he had her stoned, then he prayed over her. ʿUmar said: ‘O Prophet of Allah, you pray over her when she has committed fornication?’ He said: ‘She has repented a repentance that, if divided among seventy of the people of Madinah, would suffice them. And have you found anything better than her giving herself to Allah تبارك وتعالى?’
