English Translation

‘Amr ibn al-Haytham, Abū Dāwūd, and ‘Abd al-Ṣamad narrated to us — with the same meaning — all saying: Hishām informed us, from Qatādah, from al-Ḥasan, from Jawn ibn Qatādah, from Salamah ibn al-Muḥabbiq, that the Prophet ﷺ of Allāh ﷺ asked for water from a waterskin that was with a woman. She said: ‘It is from a dead animal.’ He said: ‘Have you not tanned it?’ She said: ‘Yes.’ He said: ‘Its tanning is its purification.’”
