Hadith #381

English Translation

Affān narrated to us, Ḥammād ibn Salamah narrated to us, ‘Abd al-Malik Abū Ja‘far informed us, from Abū Naḍrah, from Sa‘d ibn al-Aṭwal, that his brother died leaving three hundred dirhams and dependents. He said: I wanted to spend it on his dependents, but the Prophet ﷺ said: “Your brother is held back by his debt, so pay it off for him.” He said: ‘O Messenger of Allāh, I have paid off all of it except for two dīnārs that a woman claims, and she has no proof.’ He said: “Give them to her, for she is truthful.” Affān narrated to us, Ḥammād ibn Salamah narrated to us, from al-Jurayrī, from Abū Naḍrah, from a man among the Companions of the Prophet ﷺ, with the like of it.
