English Translation

‘Alī ibn ‘Āṣim narrated to us, Sulaymān al-Taymī narrated to us, from Abū al-‘Alā’ ibn al-Shikhīr, from Samurah ibn Jundub, who said: While we were with the Prophet ﷺ, a large bowl of tharīd (bread soaked in broth) was brought. He ate and the people ate, and they kept passing it around until near Dhuhr. Groups would eat then get up, and other groups would come and take their turns. A man said to him: ‘Was it being replenished with food?’ He said: ‘Not from the earth — unless it was being replenished from the sky.’”
