حَدَّثَنَا هِشَامُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْمَلِكِ أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو عَوَانَةَ وَعَفَّانُ حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو عَوَانَةَ حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الْمَلِكِ بْنُ عُمَيْرٍ عَنْ حُصَيْنٍ رَجُلٍ مِنْ بَنِي فَزَارَةَ عَنْ سَمُرَةَ بْنِ جُنْدُبٍ قَالَ أَتَى نَبِيَّ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَعْرَابِيٌّ وَهُوَ يَخْطُبُ فَقَطَعَ عَلَيْهِ خُطْبَتَهُ فَقَالَ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ
كَيْفَ تَقُولُ فِي الضَّبِّ قَالَ أُمَّةٌ مُسِخَتْ مِنْ بَنِي إِسْرَائِيلَ فَلَا أَدْرِي أَيَّ الدَّوَابِّ مُسِخَتْ حَدَّثَنَا حَسَنُ بْنُ مُوسَى حَدَّثَنَا شَيْبَانُ عَنْ عَبْدِ الْمَلِكِ عَنْ حُصَيْنِ بْنِ قَبِيصَةَ الْفَزَارِيِّ عَنْ سَمُرَةَ بْنِ جُنْدُبٍ قَالَ سَأَلَ أَعْرَابِيٌّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَذَكَرَ مِثْلَهُ

English Translation
Hishām ibn ‘Abd al-Malik narrated to us, Abū ‘Awānah informed us, and ‘Affān narrated to us, Abū ‘Awānah narrated to us, ‘Abd al-Malik ibn ‘Umayr narrated to us, from Ḥuṣayn, a man from Banī Fazārah, from Samurah ibn Jundub, who said: A Bedouin came to the Prophet ﷺ of Allah ﷺ while he was delivering a sermon and interrupted his sermon, saying: O Messenger of Allah, what do you say about the lizard (ḍabb)? He said: ‘It is a community that was transformed (maskh) from the Children of Israel, but I do not know which creature they were transformed into.’ (Ḥasan ibn Mūsā narrated to us, Shaybān narrated to us, from ‘Abd al-Malik, from Ḥuṣayn ibn Qabīṣah al-Fazārī, from Samurah ibn Jundub, who said: A Bedouin asked the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, and mentioned similarly.)
