حَدَّثَنَا عَبْد اللَّهِ قَالَ وَجَدْتُ هَذَا الْحَدِيثَ فِي كِتَابِ أَبِي بِخَطِّ يَدِهِ حَدَّثَنَا الْحَكَمُ بْنُ نَافِعٍ أَنَا

شُعَيْبٌ عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ أَخْبَرَنِي خَارِجَةُ بْنُ زَيْدٍ أَنَّ زَيْدَ بْنَ ثَابِتٍ قَالَ لَمَّا نَسَخْنَا الْمَصَاحِفَ فُقِدَتْ آيَةٌ مِنْ سُورَةِ الْأَحْزَابِ قَدْ كُنْتُ أَسْمَعُ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقْرَأُ بِهَا فَالْتَمَسْتُهَا فَلَمْ أَجِدْهَا مَعَ أَحَدٍ إِلَّا مَعَ خُزَيْمَةَ بْنِ ثَابِتٍ الْأَنْصَارِيِّ الَّذِي جَعَلَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ شَهَادَتَهُ شَهَادَةَ رَجُلَيْنِ قَوْلُ اللَّهِ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ { مِنْ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ رِجَالٌ صَدَقُوا مَا عَاهَدُوا اللَّهَ عَلَيْهِ }

English Translation

It was narrated from Zayd ibn Thabit (may Allah be pleased with him) that he said: 'When we were copying the masahif (Quran manuscripts), I noticed a verse from Surah al-Ahzab was missing that I used to hear the Messenger of Allah ß recite. I found it with Khuzayma al-Ansari: "Among the believers are men who have been true to their covenant with Allah."'
