حَدَّثَنَا سُرَيْجُ بْنُ النُّعْمَانِ حَدَّثَنَا هُشَيْمٌ أَنْبَأَنَا مُجَالِدٌ عَنِ الشَّعْبِيِّ حَدَّثَنَا الْأَشْعَثُ بْنُ قَيْسٍ قَالَ قَدِمْتُ عَلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فِي وَفْدِ كِن
ْدَةَ فَقَالَ لِي هَلْ لَكَ مِنْ وَلَدٍ قُلْتُ غُلَامٌ وُلِدَ لِي فِي مَخْرَجِي إِلَيْكَ مِنْ ابْنَةِ جَدٍّ وَلَوَدِدْتُ أَنَّ مَكَانَهُ شَبِعَ الْقَوْمُ قَالَ لَا تَقُولَنَّ ذَلِكَ فَإِنَّ فِيهِمْ قُرَّةَ عَيْنٍ وَأَجْرًا إِذَا قُبِضُوا ثُمَّ وَلَئِنْ قُلْتَ ذَاكَ إِنَّهُمْ لَمَجْبَنَةٌ مَحْزَنَةٌ إِنَّهُمْ لَمَجْبَنَةٌ مَحْزَنَةٌ

English Translation
It was narrated from al-Ash'ath ibn Qays (may Allah be pleased with him) that he said: 'I came to the Messenger of Allah ß with the delegation of Kinda. He said to me: "Do you have any children?" I said: "A boy was born to me on my way to you — from the daughter of Jadd ibn Qays." The Messenger of Allah ß said: "You have a like-namesake of the Companions of the Prophet (Usama ibn Zayd). Name him Muhammad."'
