حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو عَامِرٍ حَدَّثَنَا هِشَامُ بْنُ سَعْدٍ عَنْ زَيْدِ بْنِ أَسْلَمَ عَنْ عَطَاءِ بْنِ يَسَارٍ عَنْ أَبِي وَاقِدٍ اللَّيْثِيِّ قَالَ كُنَّا نَأْتِي النَّبِيَّ صَل
َّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ إِذَا أُنْزِلَ عَلَيْهِ فَيُحَدِّثُنَا فَقَالَ لَنَا ذَاتَ يَوْمٍ إِنَّ اللَّهَ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ قَالَ إِنَّا أَنْزَلْنَا الْمَالَ لِإِقَامِ الصَّلَاةِ وَإِيتَاءِ الزَّكَاةِ وَلَوْ كَانَ لِابْنِ آدَمَ وَادٍ لَأَحَبَّ أَنْ يَكُونَ إِلَيْهِ ثَانٍ وَلَوْ كَانَ لَهُ وَادِيَانِ لَأَحَبَّ أَنْ يَكُونَ إِلَيْهِمَا ثَالِثٌ وَلَا يَمْلَأُ جَوْفَ ابْنِ آدَمَ إِلَّا التُّرَابُ ثُمَّ يَتُوبُ اللَّهُ عَلَى مَنْ تَابَ

English Translation
It was narrated from Abu Waqid al-Laythi (may Allah be pleased with him) that he said: 'We used to come to the Prophet ﷺ when a revelation descended upon him and he would narrate to us. He said: «Faith begins as something strange and will return to being strange, so glad tidings to the strangers who correct what the people have corrupted after me.»'
